You’ve just registered on the online bloging system, this blog is actually owned by the service “giver”. If you want to have your “own” blog. Like you said to buy a domain and etc., you need to download a wordpress CMS from http://wordpress.org/ , then you need to buy a domain and a hosting service for you blog. Other step (when domain and hosting is fully working together), you need to upload all files you have downloaded to your host and install wordpress CMS. Here is the topic about wordpress CMS installation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress . When you do all these steps you will have your own and working blog.

Question by *Fierce*: How do I use my wordpress theme on my regular subpages?
I want to keep my regular subpages on my site (example: mysite.php portfolio.php,) but I want to use wordpress as well for the theme and use my own subpages instead of the wordpress pages. How do I use my wordpress theme on my regular subpages?

You can take the content from your existing portfolio page and create a wordpress page with the same content. When you click “Write” inside the wordpress admin dashboard, it defaults to a new post. You can click “Page” just below “Write” to create a new page instead of a post. When you publish the page it will become part of the sites main navigation bar, too.

Meet Amber Fulton, iThemes Development Intern
Amber Fulton, the newest team member at the iThemes family, is a development intern working with us for the summer. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University (degree in Journalism) and is currently studying in the Francis Tuttle Web Design and Development program in Oklahoma City.
While at iThemes, Amber will be helping the developers test products, as well as helping rebuild all the demo sites on our new multi-site framework. She also wants to help build a plugin while she’s here.
In college, Amber got heavily involved with design, so she enrolled at Francis Tuttle in order to learn all the skills involved in design. She discovered, to her surprise, that she really enjoys the back-end of building sites, programs, and apps. She shared with us that as she went through her first PHP and JavaScript books, it “blew her mind” at how much she loved finding errors in her code, in the book’s code, and in her classmates’ code. She likes to say, ” I found my inner nerd and she’s here to stay!”
After her first day in the iThemes office, here’s what Amber had to say:
After my first day here, I knew this was the place for me. I mean, how more awesome can it get?! I am surrounded every day by some of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met! I was so thrilled to hear that iThemes is adamant about helping each employee to grow as an individual, along with growing as a company. I cannot wait to learn everything I can and contribute to iThemes!
Take a look at Amber’s site, and help us welcome her to the iThemes community!

Blog Or Go Bust: Why Your Small Business Needs A Blog
If you are running a business website without a blog, you are missing out on some big opportunities to engage your prospects and increase website traffic. A static website that doesn’t change or feature new content is essentially an online brochure. In today’s social media-driven world where engagement with your customers is expected online, blogs are essential to marketing your business.

Why Business Blogs Are Still a Good Idea, and How to Make Yours Better

WordPress Tutorial – How to Make a Static Page Your Home Page & Hide Double Home Page Link
NOTE: More tutorials at mcbuzz.wordpress.com This beginner-level WordPress Tutorial by Mark McLaren of McBuzz Communications shows how to make a “static” WordPress page your Home page (also called a “front page”), and how to hide the second Home page link that sometimes appears in your site navigation when you make that static page a Home page. By default, a WordPress website displays the blog page on the home front page. For example, when you go to the Business Blogging 101 website at mcbuzz.wordpress.com you see blog posts with the most recent post at the top of the page and earlier posts below that. WordPress allows you to select a different page as your home page, so that you can display more traditional content like information about yourself or your business. You can also create another page to use as your blog page, with a link to that page in your site navigation. Watch this tutorial to see how to do this. One problem you may run into when you make a static page your home page is that the link to that page now appears in the main site navigation, so that you have two links to the same page – usually the page called “Home”. The second part of this tutorial shows how to remove one of those links from your site navigation so that visitors to your site are not confused by the duplicate link.
Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb Visits the iThemes Offices
This morning, we were delighted to host a very special guest — Oklahoma’s Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb.
Lt. Gov. Lamb stopped by to talk with us about our 3-plus year-old, Oklahoma City-based company, learn about what we do, how we are adding jobs and revenue in our state and to meet our team. In his role as lieutenant governor, he was charged by the Governor to be the “small business advocate” and we are proud to get this official visit from him.
It is no secret that we are extremely proud to be an Oklahoma-based tech company. I started this business in my home-office in January 2008 and today we’ve grown to 22+ team members (most of whom are based in Oklahoma), 4 brands, 130+ themes, 20+ plugins, and more than 250+ hours of professional web design training.
As a native Oklahoman, I believe this state has many benefits to starting a business, and we are excited to work with Lt. Gov. Lamb to help give back to our community and state and enhance its reputation as a great place to live and work. (In fact, we want to see Oklahoma become a tech startup hub in OKC. Check out a lightning talk called Silicon Pasture I did at SXSW this year.)
Anyway, below is a photo of me talking about some new projects we’re working on at iThemes with Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb.
