You’ve just registered on the online bloging system, this blog is actually owned by the service “giver”. If you want to have your “own” blog. Like you said to buy a domain and etc., you need to download a wordpress CMS from http://wordpress.org/ , then you need to buy a domain and a hosting service for you blog. Other step (when domain and hosting is fully working together), you need to upload all files you have downloaded to your host and install wordpress CMS. Here is the topic about wordpress CMS installation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress . When you do all these steps you will have your own and working blog.

How To: Manage Drupal Permissions More Easily

One of the most time-consuming tasks for any new Drupal site is setting up and testing what users can and can’t do. This is the realm of user permissions and role permissions. I’m guessing you’ve visited the checkbox maze – as I like to call it.

One of the most frustrating aspects of Drupal’s Permissions screen is this; with any number of roles beyond a few, and with a large collection of modules, the task of permissions management becomes quite hazardous. The potential for “accidentally” checking one little box which gives the wrong role the wrong access and allows the wrong user to do the wrong things, it’s no wonder managing Drupal permissions can become unnerving.

Enter my solution to this problem. A collection of modules which extend the level of control, make it easier to focus on the permissions that matter (relative to what you’re setting up at the time), and remove the visual clutter from this extensive web page.

Here are the modules I cover in this video.

Here are some other modules, which I didn’t review in the video, that deal with permissions. They seem to provide even more control over who can do what on your Drupal site.

If you’ve got other suggestions or ideas about making it easier to manage Drupal permissions then leave a comment below!

Book Review: Drupal Web Services

Book Review: Drupal Web Services
Michael J. Ross writes “In the evolution of the Web, one of the most significant improvements was the general transition from static websites based only upon HTML, to dynamic websites based upon scripting languages. But even then, each website was much like a silo, with no publication of content beyond the pages provided on the site itself. That all began to change with content syndication …

Meet Amber Fulton, iThemes Development Intern

Amber Fulton, iThemes development internAmber Fulton, the newest team member at the iThemes family, is a development intern working with us for the summer. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University (degree in Journalism) and is currently studying in the Francis Tuttle Web Design and Development program in Oklahoma City.

While at iThemes, Amber will be helping the developers test products, as well as helping rebuild all the demo sites on our new multi-site framework. She also wants to help build a plugin while she’s here.

In college, Amber got heavily involved with design, so she enrolled at Francis Tuttle in order to learn all the skills involved in design. She discovered, to her surprise, that she really enjoys the back-end of building sites, programs, and apps. She shared with us that as she went through her first PHP and JavaScript books, it “blew her mind” at how much she loved finding errors in her code, in the book’s code, and in her classmates’ code. She likes to say, ” I found my inner nerd and she’s here to stay!”

After her first day in the iThemes office, here’s what Amber had to say:

After my first day here, I knew this was the place for me. I mean, how more awesome can it get?! I am surrounded every day by some of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met! I was so thrilled to hear that iThemes is adamant about helping each employee to grow as an individual, along with growing as a company. I cannot wait to learn everything I can and contribute to iThemes!

Take a look at Amber’s site, and help us welcome her to the iThemes community!
